Certificate Completion

Application & Instructions

Please review parts 1-4 of the certificate completion instructions before agreeing to the terms at the bottom of this page. Upon agreeing to the terms outlined here, you will be directed to the certificate completion application.

1. General Information and Procedures

• You must be registered for the term you intend to receive your graduate certificate. Your application will not be processed if you are not registered. The graduate dean may grant an exception to this policy. Exception requests must be made in writing and addressed to the graduate dean.
• Print these instructions and read them carefully before completing the certificate completion application.
• The signatures of your committee chair and the department chair/graduate coordinator are required before submission of this application.
• It is your responsibility to ensure that all requirements leading to the confirmation of your certificate are completed.
• Refer to the exact deadline this application is due to the Graduate College.

2. Certificate Completion Fees
Do not submit certificate fee(s) with your application. Fee(s) will appear on your student account based on the following:

• Certificate Fee: $20
• Late Application Fee: $20 (Assessed if your application is received and/or postmarked after the deadline)
• Update Fee: $2.50 (Assessed if you request to delay completion of the certificate by one semester)

• Payment Schedule:
  
  Applications received on or before the deadline: To avoid late payment charges assessed by the Cashiering and Student Accounts office, you must pay all certificate application fees within 10 days. Late payments may be assessed $25 per day, up to $250.
  
  Applications received after the deadline: To avoid late payment charges assessed by the Cashiering and Student Accounts office, you must pay all certificate application fees within five days. Late payments may be assessed $25 per day, up to $250.

ALL FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY MUST BE CLEARED BY THE CASHIERING AND STUDENT ACCOUNTS OFFICE BEFORE YOUR CERTIFICATE AND TRANSCRIPTS WILL BE RELEASED.

CERTIFICATES ARE MAILED APPROXIMATELY 8 to 10 WEEKS AFTER THE END OF THE SEMESTER.

3. Processing your Certificate Completion Application

• Your certificate completion application will not be processed if you are not registered.
  
• It is your responsibility to ensure that all requirements leading to the confirmation of your certificate are completed. The following must be submitted to the Graduate College before your certificate will be conferred:

• Certificate Program (PDF)
• Committee Appointment (PDF) (if required)
• Comprehensive/Final Exam Results (PDF)
  (if required)

4. Commencement Attendance Information

Students completing a Graduate or Advanced Graduate Certificate program do not participate in commencement. However, if you are completing an advanced graduate degree and a certificate program simultaneously you may participate in commencement as outlined in the Graduation Application & Instructions available online.
