Application and Instructions
Please review parts 1-4 of the graduation and commencement instructions before agreeing to the terms at the bottom of this page. Upon agreeing to the terms outlined here, you will be directed to the graduation application.
1. You may not participate in commencement until all degree requirements have been met.
2. General Information and Procedures
- You must be registered for the term in which you intend to graduate. Your application will not be processed if you are not registered. The Dean of the Graduate College may grant an exception to this policy. Exception requests must be made in writing and addressed to the Dean of the Graduate College.
- Print these instructions and read them carefully before completing the graduation application.
- The signatures of your committee chair and the department chair/graduate coordinator are required before submission of this application.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that all requirements leading to the confirmation of your degree are completed.
- Refer to the exact deadline that this application is due to the Graduate College.

3. Graduation Fees
Do not submit graduation fee(s) with your application. Fee(s) will appear on your student account at the Cashiering and Student Accounts Office based on the following:
- Diploma Fee: $50
- Document Fee: Thesis = $45 Dissertation = $55
- Late Application Fee: $20
(Assessed if your application is received and/or postmarked after the deadline.)
- Update Fee: $2.50
(Assessed if you request to delay your graduation by one semester.)
- Copyright Fee: $65
This is an optional fee for copyright (theses and dissertations only). This fee will not appear on your student account; it must be submitted with the final copies of the thesis/dissertation.
- Payment Schedule:
Applications received on or before the deadline: To avoid late payment charges assessed by the Cashiering and Student Accounts Office, you must pay all graduation application fees within 10 days. Late payments may be assessed $25 per day, up to $250.
Applications received after the deadline: To avoid late payment charges assessed by the Cashiering and Student Accounts Office, you must pay all graduation application fees within five days. Late payments may be assessed $25 per day, up to $250.
ALL FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY MUST BE CLEARED BY THE CACSHIERING AND STUDENT ACCOUNTS OFFICE BEFORE YOUR DIPLOMA AND TRANSCRIPTS WILL BE RELEASED.
DIPLOMAS ARE MAILED APPROXIMATELY 8 to 10 WEEKS AFTER THE END OF THE SEMESTER.
4. Processing your Graduation Application
- Your graduation application will not be processed if you are not registered.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that all requirements leading to the confirmation of your degree are completed. All required forms must be submitted to the Graduate College before your application will be processed for graduation and the degree conferred.
You must also submit a final copy of your thesis or dissertation to the Graduate College before your application will be processed for graduation and the degree conferred.

5. Commencement Attendance Information
Commencement attendance is not required; however, if you do plan to attend, you must wear the appropriate cap and gown. The above graduation fees do not cover the cost of the cap, gown or invitations. Degree candidates planning to attend commencement should contact the Bookstore, 702-895-3290, about purchasing caps, gowns and invitations.
If your plans regarding attending commencement change from the time you complete the application, please inform the Graduate College at 702-895-4391. Since this information is needed for seating and mailing purposes, please inform us by the end of April for the May Commencement or by Nov. 15 for the Dec. ceremony.
If you do not meet degree requirements for the current graduation, you will be expected to do so by the end of the next regular academic term. You will also be required to complete a new graduation application and pay the required update fee ($2.50).
