If you are proposing the creation of a New Graduate Degree Program, please begin by reviewing the New Degree Program Proposal Process. The establishment of new graduate degree programs is a lengthy, multistage process. The first step is a pre-proposal that is reviewed by the Provost's Office and President’s Cabinet. If approved at that stage, the submitters will be invited to complete the New Program Proposal form and submit it to the Graduate College New Programs Committee for review and recommendation back to the Provost's Office. From there, if approved, the program will be proposed to the Board of Regents who will make the final decision on whether or not the program will be established. If created, the proposers of the new program need to meet with the Graduate College associate dean in order to finalize the process and ensure a seamless creation of the new program, including coordination on admissions processes and other support provided by the Graduate College.

If you are proposing the creation of a new graduate certificate, please use the New Certificate Program Form (DOC).  This process is relatively simple: The completed form is submitted to the Graduate College for review by the New Programs Committee.  If approved, it is recommended to the Graduate Dean and the Provost's Office for final review and implementation.  No Board of Regents review or approval is necessary.

If you are proposing a change to an existing graduate program or certificate, please use the Program Change Form (DOC).  This process only requires review by the Graduate College New Programs committee. If approved by the committee, the changes are recommended to the graduate dean for implementation.

These forms now have a built-in, customized spell check. If you do not want or need to spell check your document, you may skip this process. If, however, you would like to utilize this spell check function for the form, please follow these simple steps in MS Word:

  1. Open Microsoft Word

  2. Click Macro on the Tools menu.
  3. Click on Security in the macros dropdown menu
  4. Set the Security level to medium
  5. Exit Word to make the new setting effective
  6. Open the New Certificate Form or the Program Change Form in MS Word; a Security Warning will pop-up, select "Enable Macros."

To use spell check, click on New Certificate Form Spell Check or Program Change Form Spell Check on the Tools menu.
