The Professional Development Committee was established on an ad-hoc basis during academic year 2006-07. The committee consists of graduate coordinators as well as representatives from the Graduate College and all other campus academic units that provide outreach or professional development for graduate or professional students.
The goal of this committee is to cultivate an extensive calendar of opportunities, across a broad spectrum of professional activities and skills, for graduate and professional students. These programs do not replace mentorship or professional development within graduate programs; rather, these opportunities are designed to supplement discipline-specific training by providing access to more generalized professional development in a variety of areas, such as teaching and learning; grant-writing; human and animal subjects training; library resources; computer skills; and career services.
