What benefits will I receive as a GA?
While benefits vary based on funding source, a stipend, tuition reduction assistance, and credit toward your health insurance premium may be included in your compensation package.

I understand there are research GAs and teaching GAs. Can I pick my assignment?
While you can express interest in a particular type of graduate assistantship, you will ultimately be assigned a role by your department.

Where do I get an application to apply for a graduate assistantship?
The form is available online. Refer to these steps to ensure a smooth application process.

What are the application deadlines?
March 1 for the fall semester and Nov. 1 for the spring semester.

I received an offer from the Graduate College and sent my letter of acceptance. When do I sign my contract?
The Graduate College holds designated signing times from the end of July through August. Watch the Graduate College calendar for more information. The offer letter you received from the Graduate College also outlined the signing dates and times.

When do I get paid?
Payday is the last working day of each month of your contract. You can pick up your paycheck in your department or sign up for direct deposit through the UNLV Payroll Office.

After my graduate assistantship contract expires, am I considered a Nevada resident?
No. Your out-of-state tuition is waived only during the time you hold your assistantship. You will be considered an out-of-state student unless you apply for and receive Nevada residency.
